AJ Raval reveals why she kept her kids with Aljur Abrenica a secret for years
AJ Raval revealed the reason she decided to keep her children with Aljur Abrenica a secret from the public for so long.
In a follow-up interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda after revealing she and Aljur share three kids, the actress began by stressing she didn't actively hide them from the public eye.
“‘Pag lumalabas po kami, hindi naman po ako nagtago talaga as in totally tago. Like eight months ‘yung tiyan ko, nag-go-grocery pa rin po ako. Natutuwa po ako sa mga tao na nakikita ko kasi nirerespeto po nila. Hindi sila nagpi-picture,” she said.
She explained that subconsciously keeping her kids away from public scrunity was the result of how she was raised, and not because of anything else.
“Hindi ko po siya nakikitang problema kasi gano’n din po ‘yung pinagdaanan namin sa tatay ko. Tinago din po kami for a time. Lumalaki po kami, naintindihan po namin ‘yung sitwasyon,” she said.
Raval also recalled how she felt when her father, actor Jeric, let slip in September that she and Abrenica have children together.
“Masaya po talaga ako no’n. Kasi no’ng time po na ‘yon, nag-a-ask na po ako, nagpe-pray po ako ng freedom. And then ‘yung tatay ko, biglang nadulas. Blessing in disguise, Tito Boy. Masaya kami. Masaya ako,” Raval said.
According to her, Aljur did not want to hide their children.
“Si Aljur, wala naman po siyang problem. Ayaw po niyang itago ‘yung mga kids. Ako lang po ang nagtatago sa mga tao kasi naniniwala din po ako sa evil eye kaya ayoko rin pong ipakita ang mga bata,” she said.

Raval was interviewed by the "King of Talk" a day prior, where she bared that she's now a mother of five. Her children with Abrenica are Aikena, Aljur Jr., and Abraham. Her two other kids, meanwhile, were from a previous relationship.
Following her revelation, Abrenica's ex-wife, actress Kylie Padilla, posted a statement on social media. "Ito lang po comment ko para matapos na. matagal ko na pong alam per siyempre inuna po namin ang kapakanan ng mga bata. Sobrang close sila at yun pinaka importante. Happy that now di na kailangan mag tago. Proud of you. Peace all around. Sana matapos na drama."
Padilla and Abrenica tied the knot in 2018 before separating in 2021. The latter admitted he cheated on her two years later.
Raval became romantically linked to Abrenica after Padilla confirmed their breakup. She eventually revealed that she’s been going out with Abrenica, but denied that she was the reason for their split.
In November 2022, the actress found herself embroiled in pregnancy rumors when Ogie Diaz and Cristy Fermin alleged that she had given birth.
In 2024, rumors about a love child started circulating again after the couple was spotted in Subic with a little girl. At the time, Raval and Abrenica were quick to deny the speculations.
