BINI Aiah, PBA player Caelan Tiongson react to dating rumors

Aiah Arceta of P-pop group BINI and basketball player Caelan Tiongson have addressed the dating rumors about them.

Speculation about a budding romance between the two has circulated on social media in recent days, following Aiah's attendance at Game 2 and Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal game between Rain or Shine and TNT on Feb. 28 and March 5, respectively.

Tiongson, meanwhile, was present during the Biniverse World Tour at Philippine Arena last Feb. 15.

Aiah took to her X account, saying she’s aware of the issue and that she finds it “interesting” how people are quick to develop theories. She also said how many people “can misunderstand so many things.”

“I also notice that almost everyone I hang out with or surround myself with gets linked, no matter who they are whether it’s a friend, a superior, or even a relative which I find is unfortunate,” she lamented. Aiah added that while she usually ignores rumors, she decided to speak up this time as the issue was also affecting those close to her.

“Usually, I am just unbothered and let things be because I know what’s truly happening behind all the commotion. But this time, it pains me to see that the people who make me feel safe, calm, and normal, and those who contribute to my happiness are being ridiculed and made fun of online,” she wrote.

“My friends have been such a great help to me, especially lately, and I think they don’t deserve the hate. There are so many sides and truths that people don’t see,” she continued.

“I just hope we can all be kind to one another because kindness is free, and we all need it,” she added.

For his part, Caelan shared in an interview with One Sports that he met the P-pop star through a friend in their church.

“I met her through a mutual friend, and she’s a great person, but I’m not gonna speak about her personal life any more than that," Caelan said on Monday, March 2.

“She’s a great person, and that’s all I gotta say,” he added.

In a separate interview, the Rain or Shine player, who is also a BINI fan, asked the public for respect if Aiah decides to pursue a romantic relationship with someone.

"If Aiah is pursuing a romance with someone in the future, I would hope her fans would respect that," Caelan told ABS-CBN News on Friday, March 7.

"That's something that she has a right to experience, and the story really isn't what it seems right now—and look how crazy and twisted it could get," he continued. He also stressed that he hopes that her fans would respect her boundaries.

"In the future, I hope that her boundaries can be respected, and I hope that she can experience something like that because she's a great person and she deserves it,” he added.

Aiah debuted as a P-pop artist under the girl group BINI alongside Sheena, Mikha, Maloi, Colet, Gwen, Stacey, and Jhoanna. Some of their hit songs include Karera, Lagi, and Cherry on Top

Caelan joined the Rain or Shine Elastopainters team in 2024. He has previously played in the now-defunct ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) and Taiwan's T1 League.
