LOOK: Robina Gokongwei-Pe dons Medusa-inspired headgear

Robina Gokongwei-Pe has again embraced the longstanding urban legend about one of her malls.

In a March 6 trade partners night event, the chairman of Robinsons Retail Holdings donned a Medusa-inspired headgear, an apparent nod to the snake tale surrounding one of their malls in Ortigas.

TV host Gretchen Ho shared some snaps from the event in which Gokongwei-Pe is seen speaking from the podium with her snake hairpiece. She also wore a red dress with gold embellishments. In some photos, she's seen without the snakes on her head.

"Another #TradePartnersNight in the books! Thank you Robinsons for the trust all these years, and to Ms. Robina Gokongwei-Pe who embodied 'Valentina' with her pet snake from the dressing room," Ho wrote.

Both Valentina, a character from Filipino comics Darna, and Greek mythological creature Medusa are known for having snakes on their head for hair.

Gokongwei-Pe poked fun at the urban legend in January 2025 as she posed with a snake figurine at a mall.

“Look who finally decided to come out of hiding. My shining, shimmering golden twin (with his pretty in pink girlfriend)! Here’s to a slitheringly good Year of the Snake!” she quipped in the caption.

In case you didn't know, there's an urban legend surrounding Robinsons Galleria that started in the 1990s. It was said that a half-snake and half-human creature hid in the mall and that the being is allegedly a twin of Robina.

One of the notable "victims" of the snake is actress Alice Dixson, who allegedly fell into the trap door of the mall's dressing room and was attacked by the creature. Some have claimed that the family paid her for silence, but in 1991, she denied that the incident ever occurred.

Gokongwei-Pe and her siblings, Lance, Lisa, Faith, Hope, and Marcia are the 14th richest in the Philippines in 2025 with a $1.8 billion (P106.2 billion) net worth, according to Forbes.
