Sharon Cuneta, Kiko Pangilinan meet with Bongbong and Liza Marcos: 'Just like old times'

"Nothing but love… and other friends."

That's what Sharon Cuneta has to say when she and her husband, former opposition senator Kiko Pangilinan, met with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos during the "Konsyerto sa Palasyo" event in Malacañang on Dec. 15.

In an Instagram post later in the night, Cuneta shared photos that included her being arm-in-arm with Marcos and their selfie as a pair of couples.

Referring to Marcos as "Mr. President," the Megastar recalled him telling her, "Anytime you feel like just come here!"

She also shared "a bit of trivia," such as first seeing disco in Malacañang when she was 14. It was also where she saw Pope Paul VI.

"Had so many merienda/dinners with The President’s Father and Mother in Malacañang as we used to campaign for them," Cuneta said of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos.

She also recalled spending "a whole afternoon and evening" with Ferdinand Sr. and Imelda at their home in Hawaii, as well as a dinner with Bongbong and Liza in Ilocos.

"Madame Imelda was a Principal Sponsor at GC’s and my wedding, & it was Pres. Marcos, Sr. who stayed at our party for hours! So many memories," she said.

Cuneta said Marcos, addressing him by his initials "BBM," has "always been" her "favorite in their family."

She also recalled getting the "warmest" and "biggest" hug from the first couple, "like no time had passed."

"With some side kwento, just like old times!" she said. "Thank you so much again, Mr. President and Madam First Lady."

Cuneta ended her post with the hashtag #oldfriends.

In a previous post, Cuneta shared a screenshot of a The Philippine STAR video showing former vice president Leni Robredo and Marcos shaking hands. It has the text, "Marcos at Robredo, nagkita sa isang event sa Sorsogon," which pertains to the inauguration of the Sorsogon Sports Arena last Oct. 17.

Robredo and Pangilinan were running mates in the 2022 elections, serving as the fiercest rivals of Marcos and now Vice President Sara Duterte.

"A step towards reconciliation," Cuneta said. "Always proud of Mam Leni! Jusko nanalo na ang Pangulo noong eleksyon. Para sa ikauunlad ng bayan magkaisa na sana ang Pilipinas!"

The Marcos administration started the “Konsyerto sa Palasyo” in 2023 to honor outstanding Filipinos across different disciplines. The country's "best up and coming" artists grace the event.

The concert honored the local film industry ahead of the golden anniversary of the Metro Manila Film Festival on Christmas Day.

The previous installment in June paid tribute to healthcare workers.
