Yasmien Kurdi in distress after daughter is allegedly bullied by classmates: 'She was ganged up on'
Yasmien Kurdi aired her distress as she revealed her eldest daughter Ayesha is allegedly suffering from bullying at her junior high school.
On her Facebook page, the actress claimed that her 12-year-old daughter has been on the receiving end of bullying due to being "unable to keep up with group messages about their upcoming Christmas party" while they were out of the country.
"Surrounded by seven to nine students, Ayesha was blocked from leaving the classroom and was denied her food and recess! In other words, she was ganged up on," Kurdi said.
She further disclosed that Ayesha had taken some time off from school after another student "harassed" her by taking a video without her consent.
"This caused her paranoia and anxiety," Kurdi said.
However, this was not the first time that her daughter had been victimized by bullies.
"Ayesha is just a kid; she recently turned 12. And she has been enduring this type of bullying since Grade 2. Alarmingly, this has led to the creation of an online 'AYESHA HATE CLUB' targeting her. For some reason, some of these students are now in her class," the actress said.
"I am not surprised that the parents of bullies come to their rescue. However, twisting events and claiming it was a regular student meeting and questioning back my daughter's behavior is absurd," she continued. "Mind you, these are mostly girls if not all. Gusto mo ba gawin ito sa anak mong babae?"
In a separate post, the local star expressed regret over what has been happening to her daughter and lamented how this may have something to do with her status as a celebrity.
"I’m so sorry, Ayesha. You have to go through all of this because I am your mom. But I will always be here for you. I will protect you with all my life. You are beautiful inside and out," Kurdi said.
In the comments section, many social media users empathized with what Ayesha is going through and urged Kurdi to report the incident to the school.
"Sorry to hear about this Ms. Yasmine. I [too] was bullied when I was in high school and mahirap talaga mag-focus sa studies if 'di ka comfortable sa mga classmates and/or learning environment mo. I hope you can send her to a safer and bully-safe school. Those kids who bullied her need to be reprimanded and should be held accountable," one user wrote.
Another commented, "Kung walang ginagawa ang school to protect your child from those bullies, transfer her. It's their loss and the parents of these girls should be ashamed of themselves 'cause their children's behavior is the reflection of their parenting!"
Ayesha is Kurdi's eldest daughter with Rey Soldevilla. The couple welcomed their second daughter, Raya Layla, in April earlier this year.
