Kathryn Bernardo says she has no regrets about her past romance with Daniel Padilla: 'It was 11 beautiful years'
Kathryn Bernardo said she has no regrets from her 11-year relationship with Daniel Padilla, stressing that the breakup significantly contributed to her growth as a person.
In her first-ever guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Monday, Oct. 28, Kathryn opened up about her life after her breakup with Daniel. Host Boy Abunda asked her what advice she would give to her younger self, to which she said, “Nothing.”
"You know, nothing. I don’t regret anything. Ayoko siyang pangunahan. I want her to experience all the happiness, all the pain,” the A Very Good Girl star said.
She then described her 11-year relationship with Danie, her reel-to-real partner, as “beautiful years,” acknowledging that what she had experienced at the time significantly contributed to who she is now.
"Kung ano ‘yung nakikita niyo (sa ‘kin) ngayon, ang laking part ‘non ‘yung 11 years na ‘yon," she began. "Kung nandiyan si little Kath, ang sasabihin ko ‘You know, ayaw kitang pangunahan. I want you to experience all of these emotions, all of these things kasi it’s gonna be a big part of your growth.'"
She stressed, “I’ve learned so much about my past relationship.”
“I’m talking about growth, I’m talking about being unselfish, about gratitude, dreams and all. Lumaki ako sa 11 years ng relationship na ‘yon,” the Hello, Love, Again star said.
“And when the breakup happened, ang dami ko ring natutunan sa sarili ko and sa lahat ng nangyari,” she said, adding, “Feeling ko, I still don’t know the real definition of love."
She said that she realized that “love can be found anywhere,” either from family, friends, or romantic partners, and that how she’s so grateful to have been surrounded by “so many good energies and so much love” despite what she went through.
While the 28-year-old actress admitted that the breakup also tested her faith, it also made her realize how she was “pretty strong.”
Ready to fall in love?
At the end of the episode, the “King of Talk” asked Kathryn if she’s ready to fall in love again, to which she answered: “Yes!”
“Kahapon pa! Ready’ng ready na. Yes,” she quipped.
Kathryn and Daniel first confirmed their romance in 2018. Rumors of a breakup sparked in 2023 until they officially confirmed their separation in November of the same year.
After announcing their breakup, the two have been spotted together in various events, including the ABS-CBN Christmas Special and Asia Artist Awards, as well as Robi Domingo and Maiqui Pineda and Ria-Zanjoe Marudo’s weddings in March this year.
