Paris Hilton admits she would have loved to carry her own child: 'Surrogacy was a difficult decision to make'
Paris Hilton opened up on how she feels about opting for surrogacy to bear her child Phoenix instead of carrying him in her own womb.
On the premiere episode of season two of her reality television series Paris In Love, the American socialite and businesswoman confessed that "surrogacy was a difficult decision to make" in welcoming her first child with husband Carter Reum.
"I would have loved that experience of growing the baby in your tummy and feeling the kicks and all of those exciting moments, but my life has just been so public. So even though the baby is biologically mine and Carter's, we decided to have a surrogate carry him," Paris said.
In a later confessional, Carter shared how he would want Phoenix, who is now 10 months old, to grow up as part of a family that is constantly under the limelight.
"Now having a family with Paris, we want our family to grow up and be normal and not always be known as Paris Hilton's children. We have to think about safety," he said.
"When we go to the farmer's market, it's one thing if someone stops and asks Paris for a photo. It's a whole other thing with the baby in tow in a stroller. I don't think we know everything the journey's gonna throw at us, but we're just gonna tackle it as we go," he continued.
Paris' family recently got bigger after she announced that she had welcomed her second baby in time for Thanksgiving. Like with Phoenix, she opted to have her daughter via a surrogate.
She revealed her name when she posted a picture on Instagram showing a pink baby outfit with the word "London" stitched onto it.
"I'm just over the moon that our little princess is here! My life just feels so complete, having my little baby boy and now my little girl," Paris said in an interview with PEOPLE.
She added, "I am so excited to have our first holidays together. Thanksgiving was so special, surprising everyone with London and getting to show Phoenix the Christmas tree for the first time. Seeing his eyes light up and seeing the wonder in his eyes, it's such a magical experience. I can't wait for our first Christmas together as a family."
The model went on to highlight how thrilled she is for her fans to see this next stage of her life,
"I'm excited for people to really get an inside look into everything happening in my life right now. I’m looking forward to just being in my mom era. I feel like it's my best era yet, and I'm just excited to show the world," Paris said.
Paris married Carter in 2021 after two years of being together. They welcomed their first child in January this year, announcing the news by posting a photo of herself holding her son’s hand with the caption, "You are already loved beyond words."
