Filipino pride soared on the global stage as singer‑songwriter Gwyn Dorado earned a second‑place finish in the grand finale of Korean talent competition show Sing Again.

For her final performance on Jan. 6, Dorado performed Light Up, a new song produced by GroovyRoom. Her stellar vocals earned her a total score of 3,009.39 points.

This placed her in second place with just 41.67 points short of the winner Lee Oh-wook, who had a score of 3,051.06.

Dorado is the only foreign contestant in the final round. The other finalists include Kim Jae-min, who scored 2402.14, and Slowly, who finished with 1537.42.

With Oh-wook's win, he will now take home the 300 million won (P12.3 million) cash prize.

In an Instagram post, Dorado reflected on her journey competing on Sing Again.

"Sing Again journey has been a wild ride and it's about to be even wilder. I've always taken the ballad genre path since I've started Sing Again but I want to end it with a new side of me as to show a new beginning," she wrote.

"It's been tough being confident with this new side of me but thanks to Producer Groovy Room for helping me find my groove. Now, I'm ready to show it," she added.

She went on to say how she hopes her fans will like Light Up as much as she does and thanked them for supporting her all the way.

Dorado previously made headlines after she sang I Want You, a new piece she worked on with one of the producers of the show, Kim Do Hun. After her performance, seven of the eight judges gave her a score of 100; the eighth gave her 98, earning the singer a total score of 798 from the judges.

This was the highest score in the season's history.

Hosted by Lee Seung-gi, the fourth season of Sing Again began with a sizeable number of 81 amateur singers. The show’s previous champions include Lee Seung-yoon from Season 1, Kim Ki-tae from Season 2, and Hong Isaac from Season 3.
