Angelina Jolie accuses Brad Pitt of forcing her to sign NDA on alleged abuse

Angelina Jolie is accusing Brad Pitt of attempting to have her sign a non-disclosure agreement on the alleged abuse.

In court documents obtained by entertainment news site PEOPLE and E! News, the actress' lawyers allege the silencing.

The documents said that Jolie "was not acting with malice and the intent to hurt Pitt in response to any custody ruling." This was in relation to the actress selling her share of the winery they co-owned, Château Miraval.

"Instead, it was Pitt who refused to buy her interest unless he received his newly expanded NDA, enforceable by an $8.5 million (P491 million) holdback specifically designed to force her silence about his abuse and cover up," the court documents said.

"While Pitt advances what is effectively an outdated privacy-of-domestic-violence argument to shield his abuse, his argument is not the law, at least not in this century, and he cites no authority that would give him such unwarranted protections," Jolie's lawyers furthered. "In any event, he waived any privacy protections when he sued Jolie."

Pitt sued Jolie in February 2022 over the sale of Miraval where they got married. The actor then accused his ex-wife of seeking to "inflict harm" with the sale.

The latest filing, as per E! News, also details Jolie's attorney's support for her previous motion to have Pitt turn over his records involving a 2016 plane incident. In 2022, the Maleficent star accused her ex-husband of choking one of their children and hitting her while on a flight.

"Pitt's narrative is that this case is just about a 'business dispute.' But that is Pitt's theory. Jolie's theory is that this case is about Pitt's attempt to use Miraval as leverage to control and enforce her silence. The jury will decide what the evidence shows, but for now, Jolie is entitled to gather the evidence she needs to support her theory," the court documents read, according to E! News.

Pitt and Jolie first connected on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2003. The actor was still married to Jennifer Aniston, whom he broke up with in 2005. The pair welcomed their first child together, Shiloh, in May 2006 and confirmed they were engaged later in April 2012. They tied the knot in August 2014 and two years later, Jolie filed for divorce.

The former couple shares six children together: Maddox, Pax Thien, Zahara Marley, Shiloh Nouvel, Knox Léon, and Vivienne Marcheline.
