LOOK: 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' cast reunite
The sisterhood's magic remains as strong as ever.
Nearly two decades after the movie's premiere, the cast of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants came together in NYC to support America Ferrera at a SAG-AFTRA Barbie screening and Q&A.
In an Instagram reel, America showed the heartwarming moments from her backstage meet-up with Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, and Amber Tamblyn.
For the event, the ladies switched their denim for outfits in different shades of Barbie-pink. Alexis wore a deep pink dress with a black blazer, Amber had a baby-pink pantsuit, and Blake went for a ruffled hot pink mini dress. America, meanwhile, donned a white draped dress.
The touching reunion wasn't lost on fans and fellow celebrities, who showered them with love in the comments section.
Reese Witherspoon left a comment saying, "Love this friendship!"
Eva Longoria said her "heart just skipped a beat!!!"
"I love how you all continue to support each other year after year. Love what women can accomplish when we lift each other up," one Instagram user said.
Meanwhile, others wanted more sisterhood magic, asking for a third movie installment.
"WAIT WHAT. WHERE IS THE THIRD MOVIE," said one user in the comments section.
"I still need sisterhood everlasting - the movie," referring to the fifth and last novel in Ann Brashares's Sisterhood series.
Speaking about their friendship, Blake told People previously that she still shares a bond with her Sisterhood costars.
“America Ferrara, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel — those are three women who I met when I was 16 years old and I’ve been lucky to call them my friends and mentors ever since,” Lively said at the time.
She showered praise on her castmates, especially when it comes to taking a stand for what they believe in.
“What they do—whether artistically, politically, socially, personally—they really use their voice,” she said. “And whether people agree with their voice or not is not the thing that I’m most concerned with as much as, it’s nice to see women who are not only empowering themselves but empowering other women to stand up and to really fight and work for what they believe in.”
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a book-to-screen adaptation of Ann Brashares' series. It follows four best friends—Lena (Alexis Bledel), Bridget (Blake Lively), Carmen (America Ferrera), and Tibby (Amber Tamblyn)—who are "connected by a pair of jeans that they take turns sharing—pants that fit all four girls and exemplify their tight bond."
The film premiered in 2005, and a sequel followed in 2008.
