Kelly Clarkson legally changes her name to Kelly Brianne
Kelly Clarkson has officially changed her legal name to Kelly Brianne.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the 39-year-old singer was granted the new moniker on March 28. "The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner's name is changed from Kelly Brianne Clarkson to Kelly Brianne," it read.
"I just got divorced so I had to drop my married last name," Clarkson explained on the March 21 episode of People (the TV Show!).
"I just kept my middle name for my personal life. I'm still Kelly Clarkson! I don't think I can change Clarkson at this point. I'm 20 years in!" she added.
Clarkson filed a request to change her legal name in February before her divorce from Brandon Blackstock was settled. The two share two children, daughter River and son Remington, who are in the custody of the TV host.
The Breakaway singer wanted to change her legal name for personal reasons, previously saying Kelly Brianne "more fully reflects who I am."
Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, citing "irreconcilable difference" with her partner of nearly seven years. She was declared legally single in August 2021.
