Jodie Turner-Smith files for divorce from Joshua Jackson after four years of marriage

Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson's love story might be over.

In a surprising turn of events, the Queen & Slim actress Jodie, 37, has filed for divorce from the Fatal Attraction actor, Joshua, 45, in the Los Angeles Superior Court after more than three years of marriage, PEOPLE Magazine confirmed the news.

They got married in 2019 and had their first child, Janie Jackson, in April 2020. The source said that Jodie had requested 50-50 child custody in her filing.

They were last seen together on Sept. 9 for the celebration of Jodie's 37th birthday in New York, made some appearances at New York Fashion Week, and jointly helped launch the Lotus Emeya electric vehicle in the same month. However, Jodie was seen as a solo for the Albie Awards hosted by George Clooney and held on Sept. 28 at the New York Public Library.

The news was a surprise to many fans as they were always seen being so in love with each other. The pair first met at Usher's 40th birthday party in 2018, and even before, Jodie was already a fan of Joshua from his Dawson's Creek days.

"When I first met my husband, we had a one-night stand," the actress said on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2021. "We're in a two, three-year, one-night stand now."

Wedding speculations started in August 2019 when the couple was seen getting a marriage license in Beverly Hills, California. PEOPLE later confirmed that they tied the knot in Dec. 2019.

Jodie spoke to the outlet in April of 2021 and expressed her happiness and admiration for her husband, saying, "I think it's really beautiful to be with someone who is so supportive and so loving. We're so similar in so many ways. We're like mirrors for each other. And I just really love that human being."

Last May, Joshua gushed to Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen, saying Jodie was "the one" when she "walked into the room looking like that."

And just last year, Jodie told Forbes that she wanted to marry her husband because of "how loved and supported I felt by him" in their early years.

"I had never been with anyone who I thought was wanting to lift me up the way that I felt that he was lifting me up," she said. "That is one of my favorite things about him."

Currently, neither Jodie nor Joshua has publicly commented on the divorce.
