Dee Hsu, DJ Koo, family gather at Barbie Hsu’s grave for 'Meteor Garden' star's 50th birthday
Taiwanese host Dee Hsu and her family gathered at the grave of her late older sister, Barbie Hsu, to mark what would have been the Meteor Garden's 50th birthday.
Dee shared photos from the gathering at Chin Pao San Cemetery in New Taipei, Taiwan, on Instagram on Oct. 6, showing the family surrounding the actress's grave, which was decorated with pink flowers. They also brought cake and champagne to celebrate her birthday.
"Today is my sister’s [50th] birthday, so naturally, I came to celebrate. I brought her favorite champagne and a cake; sitting right beside her, I laughed and cried as I shared stories and told her just how much we miss her!" Dee wrote, as translated by Google.
"The wind and rain kept picking up and dying down—by the end, we were absolutely freezing—which is just so typical of my sister. "
She ended her message with a bittersweet reflection on how Barbie’s age will remain younger than the TV host will be.
"Next year, I’ll be older than her, meaning I’ll have a superstar little sister: Barbie Hsu (Big S)," Dee said.
Barbie's husband, South Korean singer and DJ Koo Jun-yup, also joined Dee and her mother at the cemetery to remember Barbie.
Barbie died at the age of 48 in February 2025 after contracting influenza while on a family trip to Japan. She was best known for playing Shan Cai in the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden, which became a major hit across Asia.
The family had previously gathered at Barbie’s resting place in February for the unveiling of a memorial statue marking the first anniversary of her death.
