Kim Jones shares why she chose not to finish college: 'I like to learn at my own pace'
One of the most celebrated milestones in one’s life is finally earning a degree, but taking formal education does not work for everyone.
Kim Jones, for one, recently revealed she chose not to finish college as she is not fond of learning things by following a certain curriculum.
The filmmaker talked about her decision via her broadcast channel “This is not a book club,” where she started a Q&A session. When a follower asked her if she finished college, she said she dropped out of her architecture program by choice.
“I dropped out,” she said, adding: “I like to learn at my own pace and without limits. I studied architecture because I like the scale, permanence, and utility of it. But the Gemini rising in me said hard no to curriculums.”
While she decided not to enroll in formal school, Kim said she still makes time for informal education, which includes reading various books and films.
“I think all books are self-helping. I don’t follow a specific genre so I can get as much variety as possible,” she responded when asked about her interest in self-help books.
“I always come out the other side a little changed. I like immersing myself in worlds (in film or in lit) of characters because I find myself in all of them, especially the unhinged ones,” she continued. “They really speak to me lol.”
Kim is known for her creative works in film and fashion. Aside from collaborating with big brands like Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Farfetch, and Swiss brand IWC Schaffhausen, she has also been featured on renowned publications like New York Times, Vogue Paris, Harper’s Bazaar, and L’Officiel, among others.
She has been married to actor-heartthrob Jericho Rosales since 2014.
