Alden Richards to pursue pilot career after earning scholarship from aviation school
Alden Richards will be ready for takeoff soon!
During a press conference, the actor expressed his excitement at becoming a pilot as he revealed that an aviation school had reached out to him to offer him a scholarship.
"Since I’ve been very vocal about being a pilot, there’s been an aviation school in Clark that offered a scholarship to me to be a pilot," Richards said.
"Sobrang excited din ako. Tsaka ko na lang po idi-discuss kung sino ‘yung nag-offer ng scholarship once it’s final already, but I'm very excited for that," he added.
Richards hopes to fulfill the dream in the future as becoming a pilot had also been an ambition of his father.
"It has been my dad’s dream also. Personal dream niya actually to be a pilot, so sabi ko, 'Sige dad since medyo 59, 58 ka na, ako na lang.' Hopefully kung kaya this year matapos ko ‘yung course, then lipad-lipad na tayo," he said.
Richards shared that he doesn't have a fear of heights and even finds it to be thrilling.
"Nag-skydive nga po ako sa Dubai eh. As in mahilig po ako sa mga matataas na lugar. It gives a bird’s eye view of everything. Ineeject ka niya sa mundo, so I love to fly," he highlighted.
Richards isn't the only celebrity in the Philippines who has dreams of piloting a plane.
His fellow actor Xian Lim recently earned his license to become a private pilot in January earlier this year. After this achievement, he is now aiming to get a commercial pilot license.
Lim first gave a glimpse into his aviation journey in September 2024. He has since been sharing photos and videos from his flights in the pilot's seat on Instagram.
