Puey Quiñones recaptures 1950s glamour
The glamour of the 1950s came alive when fashion designer Puey Quiñones unveiled a stunning 12-piece collection embodying his Holiday 2024 aesthetic.
Held at Quiñones’ eponymous Atelier in Makati, the show introduced the made-to-measure experience of Puey Quiñones, and reinforced his identity as a comprehensive and holistic lifestyle brand, from art to fashion to food.
Quinones drew inspiration from the polished, waisted glamour of the 1950s, incorporating elegant tailoring and feminine silhouettes. The pieces highlighted quality and rich fabrications, seamlessly blending luxurious new textiles and materials sourced from Italy and the United States with traditional local materials.
Amid the opulent blues and browns of the atelier and its coral-like chandeliers, the designer’s signature sculpted works took centerstage; from fuchsia-pink and lemon-yellow cascades of flowing silk chiffon and geometrically structured silk-taffeta frocks to graceful silhouettes of black and white and delicate, classic headpieces, each piece showing Quiñones’ masterful craftsmanship.
A green tailored suit with pleated accent alongside a modern interpretation of the Barong Tagalog reflected heritage styles with contemporary flair.
Quinones’ style is marked by its innovation, femininity, and timeless appeal. After a decade of leading a successful design house in Manila, he expanded to Los Angeles, where he runs a successful bridal couture house.
