Is Maureen Wroblewitz, PH's 'Asia's Next Top Model' winner, joining Miss Universe Philippines 2021?
With the June 24 deadline application to join the 2021 Miss Universe Philippines looming, many names that are rumored to be potential candidates for the pageant have been coming up. One of them is Maureen Wroblewitz, the Filipino-model who won the fifth season of the reality competition show Asia’s Next Top Model in 2017.
According to rumors, Maureen is eyeing to join the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, with the model-TV host allegedly seen in the candidate screening of pageant camp Aces & Queens.
The famed pageant group holds their own screenings for candidates who they will train for the Miss Universe Philippines competition.
During the press conference held for the 40 new artists of ABS-CBN’s talent agency arm Star Magic on Monday, June 21, Maureen admitted she had thought about joining pageantry. The 22-year-old model is the first Filipina to win Asia’s Next Top Model and had a short stint as a host on GMA-7 noontime show Eat Bulaga.
She added, “I’ve always considered joining pageants. As in my other interviews, I’ve always said that I’ve considered it, that I am not closing any doors.”
“I think being in a pageant gives women such a great platform to speak up to talk about what they believe in and their values I mean I would say why not,” Maureen added.
But when asked if she will join a national pageant this year, Maureen said she wants to be prepared first before joining.
“Not so sure yet,” she answered. “Because this is the year I’ve heard that you have the least preparation time. And I really wanna be ready if I do join.”
While the Miss Universe Philippines franchise is yet to announce when it will hold the pageant this year, there have been reports that the 2021 Miss Universe pageant will happen later this year. This means the candidate who will win the Miss Universe Philippines title will have less than six months to prepare for the international pageant.
Maureen said she also wants to focus on acting as a new talent of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic.
Last weekend, ABS-CBN signed more than 40 artists and celebrities to its talent agency arm. Besides Maureen, artists such as Mary Joy Apostol (star of movie Birdshot), Vance Larena (Dead Kidz), Jake Ejercito (son of Joseph Estrada and Laarni Enriquez), and Jayda (daughter of Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado) joined Star Magic as talents.
