Good news for pageant fans: Binibining Pilipinas coronation night is set to happen on April 17, 2021.

This is after the 2020 edition of the pageant was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement was made during a Facebook Live event on Saturday, January 23. Binibining Pilipinas is resuming pageant activities as a lead up to the April 17 finals—starting with a photo exhibit of the contestants’ national costumes at the Gateway Mall and Ali Mall in Quezon City.

The national costume photos were also uploaded on the  Bb. Pilipinas Facebook page.

“I am happy to announce that the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. is all set to continue with the pageant this year. We officially open the Binibining Pilipinas season with the launch of the National Costume Photo Exhibit in Araneta City. Through this, we aim to celebrate our colorful culture and talented local designers,” said Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. chair Stella Marquez Araneta via a statement read during the pageant’s online event.

She added: “Our tradition of identifying and crowning our new queens will be done in a ‘new normal’ and safe setting. We share your excitement as we see the candidates in action again, and we look forward to your continuous support.”

The Bb. Pilipinas was originally set on April 26 last year, but was moved to May 31 because of the lockdown measures imposed by the government due to the pandemic. It later postponed pageant activities indefinitely.

This year’s edition of the Bb. Pilipinas pageant will be the first since it lost the Miss Universe and Miss Supranational franchise. Miss Universe Philippines held its coronation night in October last year. Miss World Philippines Organization currently has the Miss Supranational franchise.

This means four titles remain up for grabs in Bb. Pilipinas—Bb. Pilipinas International, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental, Bb. Pilipinas Grand International, and Bb. Pilipinas Globe.
