LOOK: ASICS unveils 2020 Tokyo Olympics official uniforms of Philippine delegates

Soon, you'll be able to see our Philippine delegates on the world’s biggest stage, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, wearing none other than ASICS. And guess what? You can shop the collection, too!

The company made an announcement that it will sponsor the clothing and footwear—including tracksuits, shirts, training and competition wear, baggage, and other accessories—of the Filipino athletes participating at the Olympics.

"ASICS Philippines has a long and decorated history with the Olympic Games for the Philippine Team. We are excited and honored to partner with the Philippine Olympic Committee as the footwear and apparel partner and are in a unique position as the official outfitter and footwear for Philippine Delegation for the Tokyo Olympics," they wrote in a statement.

"The ASICS philosophy of achieving a sound mind in a sound body through sport is a natural extension of the Olympic ideal that participation is more important than winning," ASICS added.

Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino, president of the Philippine Olympic Committee, believes that this partnership could bring luck to the country, citing that the Philippines won as overall champions at the recent Southeast Asian Games, where all Pinoy athletes wore ASICS.

"May kasamang suwerte ‘yung Asics," said Tolentino. "We were the overall champion in the SEA Games. Ako, naniniwala ako sa ganun. This Olympics, suot na naman natin si Asics."

ASICS is featuring its comfort-centered technology at the games, which includes 100% cotton and technical polyester in the outer wear garments and cotton and polyester blends in the t-shirts and polos to "ensure great hand feel and fit."

The design was inspired by Japan's ancient art form of origami and "with sustainability in mind."

"Sustainability is a key focus for ASICS as a company. We wanted to make sure we could use sustainable and recycled materials where possible without limiting performance. This together with our wider sustainable practices has endured that we were able to produce a Summer Olympics collection that is made with 30% recycled material," they wrote on the website.

That said, fans can also get hold of the said collection in-stores and online, with price ranging from P1,890 to P8,990.

The Filipino delegates will be wearing ASICS clothes and footwear at the upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan this July 23 to August 18.
