The new language of lounge

Once reserved for lazy Sundays and stay-at-home comfort, loungewear—and even intimates—have evolved into everyday wardrobe staples.

Embracing this shift, Uniqlo’s Lounge & Underwear collection offers thoughtfully designed essentials that transition effortlessly from slow mornings at home to coffee runs, casual outings, and beyond, proving that comfort and style can coexist.

Comfort redefined

To launch the collection, Uniqlo transformed the press room of its Glorietta flagship into a cozy bedroom retreat complete with a bed and walk-in closet. Guests slipped into lounge slippers as they explored the immersive space, while a bouquet station offered personalized floral arrangements, reinforcing the collection’s message of comfort, ease, and self-expression.

Natalia Escaño wears Uniqlo’s Mini Ribbed V-Neck Cardigan, Ribbed Sleeveless Top, High-Rise Briefs and Mini Ribbed Wide Easy Pants.

The collection is presented in two distinct style directions. Minimalist Classics, embodied by Uniqlo Philippines senior PR manager Khale Capati, features timeless silhouettes and capsule-worthy neutrals. Effortless Charm, represented by host Rocio Escaño, embraces playful prints, brighter hues, and feminine details. Together, they show how the collection caters to both understated and expressive dressers.

“I’ve been trying to build somewhat of a capsule wardrobe,” Khale shared. “Just a few pieces from this collection will take you places. You can mix and match them, dress them up with heels, or keep them casual with sneakers.”

Playful patterns meet everyday comfort with the newest Cotton Wireless Bra from the Effortless Charm collection.

Her look showcased staples such as the Airism Seamless Shorts, Wireless Bra 3D Hold, Washable Knit Bra Top, Washable Knit Sweater, Washable Knit Ribbed Pants, and Satin Pajamas—pieces designed for lounging as comfortably as they are for stepping out.

Olivia Banzon sports the Mini Ribbed V Neck Cardigan, paired with the Ribbed Lace V Neck Camisole, and the Mini Ribbed Wide Easy Pants.

On the other end of the spectrum, Rocio demonstrated how Uniqlo’s intimates can become part of an everyday outfit, pairing a wireless bra with the brand’s signature mini tee for an effortlessly youthful look. She also welcomed the new Light Orange and Brown shades of the Airism Seamless Shorts, noting that they provide subtle color while offering better coverage under today’s sheer and light-colored bottoms.

Rocio Escaño shows how Uniqlo's Cotton Boxer Easy Shorts and the High-Rise Briefs can also be styled for the outdoors.

She likewise styled a lace-trimmed brief as part of a coordinated lounge ensemble, allowing its delicate trim to peek out beneath her pajama set in a way that felt chic and intentional rather than revealing.

The Cotton Boxer Easy Shorts are designed for all-day comfort.
Style meets substance

Whether layered under tailored separates or worn on their own, the refreshed Lounge & Underwear collection balances elevated design with everyday comfort. Soft modal, cotton, and Airism fabrics are paired with delicate lace accents, while breathable, quick-drying materials and body-skimming silhouettes ensure comfort from morning to night.

For me, the standout is the Minimalist Classics line, whose versatile pieces can easily become wardrobe workhorses. Meanwhile, Effortless Charm—with its playful prints, brighter palette, and feminine touches—clearly resonated with younger guests Olivia Banzon and Natalia Escaño.

Together, the two collections reflect the new language of loungewear: clothing designed not only for comfort, but also for confidence, versatility, and self-expression.
