World Vision defines women's empowerment as the process of helping women feel good about themselves and help them make their own decisions. Women's Run PH is an event that aims to achieve this by providing them an opportunity to run, be motivated, and be inspired.

Nicole de la Cruz, a passionate runner, established the organization with the goal of celebrating and empowering women runners, recognizing that running events are often male-centric.

With the Women's Run PH Series, it offers a great opportunity for women to come together, support each other, and celebrate their strength and resilience.

This year's 5K event will take place on October 1 at the UP Diliman Academic Oval, with the women's 5KM Run at 3 p.m. and a 1KM run for kid's category at 4:30 p.m. on the same day.

Who can join?

The event is exclusive to women. For the 5K run, participants must be 13 years old and above, while kids 12 years old and below must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian. For the 10K run, joiners must be 16 years old and above.

Likewise, runners below the age of 18 must seek their parent's or guardian's consent and fill up the entry form which they are required to sign.

How to join?

All participants must fill out an event application form and provide accurate information, including their age, gender, and emergency contact.

The regular rate for the 5KM run is P1,000, and an additional P200 will be added for those who register after Aug. 1.

Bundle rates are also being offered. If you want to join next year's 5KM run, participants may pay P2,000 for the regular fee and P2,200 for the late fee.

As such, if you want to join both the 5KM event on Oct. 1 and 10KM event on March 10, 2024, you may get the bundle at P2,400 for the regular fee and P2,600 for the late fee.

Registration can be done through the Runrio Inc. Race Roster website. There is also a Viber community for updates on the events and promos.

Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis and is non-transferable.

The run will take place at UP Diliman Academic Oval, with the starting and finish lines located in front of the UP Palma Hall.

Participants must stay within course boundaries, as designated by barriers, traffic cones, delineation, and/or other markings, at all times. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

No participant, after leaving the course, will be allowed to rejoin the race either to get the finisher’s freebies or to pace or assist another competitor.

A runner who receives assistance during an event from anyone other than official medical personnel may be disqualified.

Inclusions and entitlements

Participants will receive an official singlet, a shirt for kids, a finisher's loot bag, and a customized medal.

In addition to the women's run, participants can also join a wellness Zumba dance and a braiding station to keep them stylish while running.

A carpeted finish line awaits finishers, and motivational markers will be installed along the course.

The top 100 finishers will receive a flower to recognize their efforts. Winners will receive bouquets, medals, trophies, and cash prizes.
