Nowadays, many celebrities have their fingers in different pies—whether it's starting a new business venture, recording an album, or joining beauty pageants, as some famous faces have done.

A number of contestants from this year's Miss Universe Philippines pageant have decided to join pageantry with the hopes of representing the country in international competitions. But before becoming beauty queens, some of them actually already appeared in TV and the silver screen first, doing small or big roles.

Below, we round up beauty queen candidates who you may have seen on TV.

Maureen Wroblewitz in Runaway

Maureen Wroblewitz went from modeling in magazines and tv and print commercials, to acting in television.

She appeared in the reality TV show Asia's Next Top Model Season 5, where she placed first, making her the first Filipina to win the competition. In 2021, Wroblewitz made her debut as an actor in her first movie called Runaway, alongside Kit Thompson.

Kisses Delavin (Masbate) in D'Ninang

Before she became a beauty queen, Kisses Delavin was an actress and a recording artist. She became a household name in 2016 after being a "housemate" in the reality television series, Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7, where she placed second.

Since then, she has appeared in several TV shows and movies including Loving In Tandem (2017), Walwal (2018), Fantastica (2018), and D'Ninang (2020).

Katrina Dimaranan (Taguig) in Love Island USA

If you've been binge watching Love Island USA on Netflix, then you've probably spotted this Pinay beauty. Katrina Dimaranan became one of the contestants of the matchmaking reality TV series during its first season in 2019.

Christelle Abello (Aklan) in All You Need Is Pag-Ibig

Seasoned pageant queen Christelle Abello once had a stint in a Filipino movie. She made a cameo in the star-studded film by Star Cinema and Viva Films called All You Need Is Pag-Ibig. She played the role of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim's classmate.
