Pia x Ultherapy®: Why ‘All It Takes is U’

Published Sep 26, 2022 8:00 pm

Practicing self-care is more essential than ever when it comes to taking care of our emotional health and well-being.

Focusing on what makes us feel happy, nourished, and what gives us meaning is part of easing stress and anxiety we all felt during the pandemic. So yes, self-care isn’t selfish.

Take it from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, who continues to inspire everyone with her beauty and strength, despite the challenges she had gone through in life.

In fact, it took a lot of strength for Pia to talk about her struggles growing up, as well as leading to and during her reign as Miss Universe in 2015 on her YouTube channel.

It was the first time Pia opened-up about her mental health, because she wanted everyone to know that “depression doesn’t discriminate.” And that there's no shame in admitting that you aren't perfect and that you need help.

"I was determined to stay strong, to continue my mission, my purpose, and to turn things around," she said. "I wanted to face my demons and finally take care of my heart, something which I didn't do or never cared to do,” said Pia during an event held recently at Shangri-La at The Fort, where she was introduced as the “Face of Ultherapy®.”

Hosted by Issa Litton, Pia was joined by Dr. Ed Tolentino, FPPS and board-certified dermatologist, and Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas.

No filter

As a public figure, Pia feels she now has a larger responsibility to her audience and that is to look as close to her real self on social media platforms. And so, she refrains from using filters whenever she posts photos online. “Nothing’s more liberating than embracing your flaws,” she shared. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a beauty queen or not.

We all have our bad hair days, and yes, even mental health struggles.” Pia started her YouTube channel during the pandemic and used this as a platform to show that being real is also all about “facing your demons.”

“I was determined to stay strong, to continue my mission, my purpose, and to turn things around,” Pia added.

Indeed, to live the life you’ve always wanted, “All It Takes Is U.”

Self-care is the best care

Psychiatrist Dr. Ed Tolentino explained how these challenges have been amplified with the pandemic and how people can help themselves to find ways to cope.

“Self-care is a term that describes everything you do deliberately for your mental, physical, and emotional well-being,” he explained. “Self-care is vital for building resilience towards stressors in life that you can’t eliminate.”

During the pandemic, many have experienced a roller coaster of emotions. Stress and anxiety were prevalent.

“It’s because there was a lack of information,” the amiable doctor noted. “Be intentional about your emotional health right now. Create a sanctuary. Focus on what you can control and maintain the proper pillars of physical health: proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep.”

Physical wellness supports mental wellness.

“Self-care relies on increased self-awareness: recognizing patterns in your emotions, including triggers; help identify what activities are necessary for your well-being,” Dr. Tolentino added.

A dose of 'me-time’

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas shared that when her patients are stressed or want to relax, they get some “me-time.”

“What’s important is that they see and feel the difference of the treatments they get. That’s why they keep on going back for Ultherapy®,” she enthused. “Because they feel good after.”

With more than 2Mio treatments worldwide with over 95% patient satisfaction one year after treatment rating, Ultherapy® is the only non-invasive ultrasound treatment that allows you to see below the skin’s surface, promoting safe and effective treatments.

That is why Ultherapy® remains to be the gold standard in skin lifting and tightening on the brows, chin, and neck areas, and improve lines on the décolletage.

Dr. Gaile shared that there are five reasons why Ultherapy® is the gold standard:

  • Visualization. The doctor can see the layers of the skin tissue, allowing the practitioner control and increased confidence in delivering the treatment with precision. “I am in control, I am confident where I deliver the energy,” Dr. Gaile said.
  • Customization allows the practitioner to provide a hyper-personalized treatment through the flexibility of depth, where the energy is delivered and the number of lines depending on the patient’s skin.
  • Repeatable. The treatment is repeatable, and the results are consistent.
  • No downtime. There is absolutely no downtime, which is important to people on the go.
  • Non-invasive. It’s non-invasive and can give you lifted, tighter skin that looks like you.
