Ricci Rivero shares greatest lesson in romantic relationships in new interview
Ricci Rivero, who recently broke up with Andrea Brillantes, shared his thoughts on romantic relationships. He said that as long as you are honest and true to yourself, there is no need to regret anything or look back and think "dapat ganito, dapat ganyan."
In his guest appearance in former Manila mayor Isko Moreno's vlog, Iskovery Night uploaded on June 14, Ricci said that it is better if there are not too many people involved in a relationship because then there will be less interference.
“Mas okay din siguro ‘yung wala masyadong taong involve sa relationship kasi mas wala ring makikialam,” he added.
Ricci has been criticized for how he handled the breakup, especially after he "left out" a few important details in his version of the story. However, he said that he is choosing to see the positive side of moving on. He said that he has learned a lot from this experience and that he is now a stronger person.
“Mas focus[ed] ako dun sa kung ano yung tingin kong makakabuti and mas importante,” he said.
When asked if he believes he is “obligated” to explain things to the public, Ricci answered no, saying that he just lets everyone believe what they want to believe.
“Kung obligations, Yorme, parang wala. Kasi unang una hindi naman talaga nila alam kung ano ‘yung mga nangyayari, ano ‘yung totoo, ‘di ba. Pwede may marinig silang isang side [pero] ‘yun lang naman ‘yung alam nila, hindi lahat,” he said. “Siguro hahayaan ko na lang sila kung ano yung sinasabi nila.”
“Wala talagang madudulot na mabuti kung ano man ‘yung sasabihin nila, parang hindi na rin para sa akin na intindihin o paniwalaan kasi alam ko naman kung ano ‘yung mga nangyayari,” he said, adding that he chooses to see criticisms as advice to become better.
Ricci also shared that he is focusing more on his career as a basketball player.
When asked what characteristics he looks for in an ideal partner, Ricci simply said: “Matured, simple, family-oriented, at may takot sa Diyos.”
Ricci and Andrea became official on April 9 last year, after Ricci asked her to be his girlfriend during one of his games.
Breakup rumors surrounding the couple sparked in May. In his interview with “King of Talk” Boy Abunda, Ricci said that their split was prompted by “mounting problems” and not a third party.
