If there's two perfect adjectives to describe Filipinos, it's being supportive and hardworking, and the reigning Miss Universe Bahrain Evlin Khalifa made sure to emphasize that in her heartfelt appreciation message to her team comprised entirely of Filipinos.

Khalifa, who is the second cousin of Filipino basketball star Dwight Ramos, took to her Instagram account to post her sweet tribute.

"For Filipinos," she started, accompanying the post with a picture of her wearing her shimmering evening gown with a matching hood. "I always believe in gratitude. Without it, we will never appreciate the beauty of a glass half full or half empty. The moment you feel it in your core is the only way you can summon the Universe."

Sharing how she believes that working together and being global is the "best way to love, to progress and move forward," Khalifa then shifted the focus to the heart of her message—to express her earnest thanks to her all-Filipino team.

"This post is dedicated to my undying gratitude to my Filipino team—without them, I can never call myself a queen. It’s team work and I am so thankful to each and everyone who is part of my journey. You don’t know how much I love you," Khalifa gushed.

She continued, "Mahal ko kayo, to my walk trainer, my make up artists, my stylist, my designer—all Filipinos—especially to my ever supportive National Director who is a certified Filipino pride and my co-National Director. Both of them have given me their entire efforts, time, and wisdom so I can stand on the Miss Universe stage as they help me become a true transformational queen."

Listing the individual accounts of her team, she underscored, "My journey will not be possible without these people."

Khalifa has long had the Philippines close to her heart. In an Instagram post in late September last year, she shared that she had arrived to the country to go through training and preparation for the Miss Universe competition, as well as to visit her Filipino cousins.

"It has always been my dream to visit the beautiful country of the Philippines, and I cannot believe I am already here, especially [since] I have Filipino cousins here," Khalifa wrote, raving that she cannot wait to taste our local cuisine.
