Bahrain’s Jess Deyani ditches wearing a bikini at the 70th Miss Universe preliminaries
As the 70th Miss Universe preliminaries begin in the city of Eilat in Israel, Bahrain’s Manar “Jess” Deyani is rewriting the pageant the rules with her debut in the international stage.
Deyani, the first candidate appointed to represent Bahrain in the Miss Universe, rocked the swimsuit preliminaries stage in a quarter-sleeved top and wide-leg pants ensemble.
During the countries’ introduction portion, the 25-year-old was the only candidate who wore a jumpsuit in a sea of ladies parading in short sparkly dresses.

Deyani is reportedly the shortest candidate in Miss Universe history, standing at 5”1’.
Recently, Deyani refused to back down from online bullies, most of them Filipino netizens.
In an Instagram post, Deyani shared screenshots of hateful remarks written in Filipino.
“I am here to have a representation for all women regardless of the shape, size, religion or color. For the people who spread hate on social media—I have nothing but love for all of you. I hope that you find peace in your heart as me and my co-sisters unite to break the world's stereotypes of beauty,” she wrote.
