Cardi B tries balut but didn't like it: 'It's just not for me'
American rapper Cardi B. took her stab at eating the classic Pinoy delicacy balut, but it wasn’t to her liking.
In a TikTok video, Cardi told followers that she’s been seeing balut “for a long time” and she “got it” and is “ready” to try it through what she prepared at home.
Before eating, she took Nexium, which reduces stomach acid to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Pepto-Bismol, which is used to treat stomach discomfort.
She then started cracking the egg with the back of a spoon while shouting in apparent excitement.

“I’m shaking,” Cardi can be heard saying upon seeing the insides before pouring some white vinegar and sipping the balut broth.
She then appeared to be disgusted by the taste.
“I’m just gonna hold my nose,” she said as she gave it another try.
Cardi opened up the balut, and was surprised with the contents: the “sisiw,” the yolk, and the “bato.”
“It’s so thick and hard, oh my God,” she said. “I think I overcooked the duck.”
She dipped the yolk into the vinegar and put it in her mouth before spitting it out.
“No, I don’t like it. I don’t like it,” she said, describing it as akin to an “uncooked chicken.”
“It was just too gamey for me, too much meat scent,” she said. “I still eat my s*** well done, I don’t even like rare steaks.”
“But the liquid they had inside, it was good,” she noted.
Cardi said she won’t rate the balut from 1 to 10.
“I’m just gonna say it’s just not for me,” she said. “But I’m so glad that I tried it. Maybe I did it wrong, maybe I need to eat it from somebody (who) knows how to cook it.”
Several users resonated with her, while some appreciated her honest review.
“You are brave. I just can’t,” one user said.
“This is how you respectfully review food that you don’t like,” another user said.
