Yasmien Kurdi backs Alfred Vargas, wife amid legal case vs parents of son's alleged bully

Yasmien Kurdi has expressed her support for Alfred Vargas and his wife, Yasmine, after they took legal action against the parents of a minor who allegedly bullied their son during a swimming session.

On Instagram, the Starstruck alum shared how she understands the Vargas' pain, having been able to deal with the same ordeal for her daughter, Ayesha.

"This is really heartbreaking, but also a wake-up call. I know how this feels," she wrote on Vargas' IG comments section. "The pain and anxiety for the whole family. We’ve been through it, and it’s not easy seeing your child go through that."

She went on to reflect on how bullying can build up and take a toll over time.

"What’s hard is that bullying doesn’t just happen once it builds up over time. From being singled out, to anxiety, to feeling unsafe, it really affects them deeply," she said.

"Mas masakit pa when parents are already informed but choose to dismiss or even laugh it off instead of correcting their child. That kind of response only makes things worse," she continued.

Kurdi stressed how taking a stand makes a difference.

"Accountability is the only way it stops. Praying for your family. Stay strong Vargas Family. Every child deserves to feel safe and protected," she concluded.

On April 13, the Vargas couple announced that they had filed a criminal complaint against the bully's parents, over violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

They shared that the lawsuit came from an alleged pattern of behavior in which the respondents’ minor child reportedly pushed and held the Vargases’ son underwater during swimming training sessions.

The couple said the incident happened “several times,” despite their repeated requests to the child’s parents to intervene and correct the behavior.

Kurdi also underwent the same ordeal in 2024, sharing how her eldest child, Ayesha, had to undergo therapy after being bullied by her classmates in Colegio San Agustin in Makati.

For their part, the CSA said in a statement that "there appears to be no bullying" that happened.

Kurdi, in April, revealed that she filed a formal complaint regarding the matter.
