LTO summons driver who allegedly hurt pump attendant in Cavite
The Land Transportation Office has issued a show cause order against a driver allegedly involved in an altercation with a pump attendant in Bacoor, Cavite.
According to the agency, the driver was caught on video shouting at and hitting a female employee of a gas station over a misunderstanding regarding payment.
News5's Frontline Pilipinas reported that the man behind the wheel turned aggressive after the gasoline girl supposedly refused to reach into the vehicle through the driver's side to scan a QR code on his phone for points. His device was charging in a holder in his car.
"Akala ko okay na, nag-guide out po ako sa kanya. SOP po natin, hindi pwede ipasok 'yung katawan ko sa loob ng sasakyan niya para i-scan po yun," the pump attendant told Frontline Pilipinas.
"Doon na po siya parang nagalit. Sabi niya, 'sampung taon na ako na Grab driver, ikaw lang nagpagawa sa akin n'yan. Hindi mo ba kayang itutok?'"
She then said that the driver got out of his car and threatened her. "'Ikaw, ayus-ayusin mo salita mo ha?' Nagtanong po ako, 'Bakit po, sir?' Doon na niya ako sinakal ng dalawang beses," she said.
Apart from issuing a summons, the LTO has suspended the license of the driver for 90 days and placed his vehicle under alarm.
The driver is asked to submit a verified or sworn comment or explanation on April 14 on why his driver's license should not be suspended or revoked for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle (Sec. 27(a) of R.A. 4136).
"Failure on your part to attend/submit your comment/explanation shall be considered a waiver of your right to be heard, and this Office shall proceed and complete the investigation in its absence," the LTO said.
