Cher's request for temporary conservatorship over son dismissed

Cher's petition to place her son, Elijah Blue Allman, under a temporary conservatorship has been denied.

In a statement provided to USA Today, Allman's attorney Avi Levy confirmed that Los Angeles Superior Court judge Jessica A. Uzcategui dismissed the request due to insufficient evidence.

"The Court’s ruling this morning represents a significant triumph for Mr. Allman’s personal liberty and legal autonomy. We, at Cage & Miles, are pleased with the Court’s decision to deny Cher’s temporary conservatorship petition," Levy said.

The decision "underscores the principle that conservatorship is a measure of last resort, not a tool to be used lightly," he continued. "As the Court noted, there was insufficient evidence presented by Cher to establish an emergency exists for a temporary conservatorship."

The singer filed the said petition in December, alleging that Allman has "severe mental health and substance abuse issues" that make it difficult for him to manage his money and other assets.

A hearing on a permanent order has been scheduled for March.

Cher made the rounds on social media in September after being accused of hiring four men to kidnap Allman in late 2022 to stop him from reconciling with his estranged wife. She denied the accusations but confirmed that Allman's issues have been affecting their family.

"I’m a mother. This is my job—one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache—mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them," she said.

Allman previously confessed to Entertainment Tonight that he began started taking drugs at 11 and battled heroin addiction for years.

"I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and, that's when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates. [Heroin] kind of saved me. If I didn't have that at that point, I don't know what I would have done," he said.
