PSA: LRT-2 to offer free rides on Dec. 30
Free train rides for everyone! The Light Rail Transit Line 2 will offer free rides on Monday, Dec. 30, in celebration of Rizal Day.
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced in a Facebook post that Libreng Sakay is available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"Bilang paggunita at pakikiisa sa anibersaryo ng kabayanihan ni Dr. José Rizal, inihahandog ng Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) ang libreng sakay sa December 30, 2024," the caption read.
The first train departs from Recto and Antipolo stations at 5:00 a.m., while the last ones leave Antipolo station at 9:00 p.m. and Recto station at 9:30 p.m.
"Isang ligtas at maginhawang biyahe sa lahat," the train agency added.
This year marks the 128th death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, the country's national hero.
In 1898, Rizal Day was initially declared a National Day of Mourning by former president Emilio Aguinaldo, honoring Rizal's execution on Dec. 30, 1896, at Rizal Park in Manila.
