Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific implement flexible travel options until Aug. 19
Several airlines are implementing flexible travel measures at least until Aug. 19 as rainy weather in Metro Manila continues to complicate travel conditions in the country.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, 201.7 millimeters of rain fell in the metro in just five hours on Monday, Aug. 17, submerging multiple cities in flood water. The rain volume was about 44% of Ondoy's rainfall, which was spread over 24 hours.
To help travelers with existing flights out of or into Manila, some airlines have announced the easing of some travel restrictions.
Philippine Airlines
Travelers with confirmed PAL flights to and from Manila scheduled on Aug. 18 and 19 who cannot push through with their travel because of the weather have two options:
They can rebook their flight without penalties. But the rebooked flight must take place within 60 days from the original travel date.
Passengers may also opt to convert their ticket into travel credits for a future trip. The conversion will not incur any penalties.
Those who were unable to take their flight on Aug. 17 can contact PAL for assistance. Per the airline, passengers who choose to continue with their flight should go to the airport earlier, keeping in mind weather and road conditions.
Before traveling, be sure to check the flight status.
Cebu Pacific

Passengers with Cebu Pacific flights to and from Manila and Clark on Aug. 18 and 19 have similar options.
They may rebook their flights without change fees and fare difference "within the applicable travel period," the airline announced on Facebook.
Alternatively, passengers may convert the value of their booking to a travel fund, which they can use for a future trip.
Customers who missed their Aug. 17 flight due to the weather may still contact the airline's agents for assistance.
