During his talk, Barber shared how he used to be the “most single person” in their church, and how his faith helped lead him to the love and relationship he has today.
“From the last time I was here, I’m now in an awesome relationship…Don’t tell me that God is not real. I used to be the most single person in this place,” he said.
The Pinoy Big Brother alum later showed a glimpse of his fiancée, which drew cheers from the churchgoers. He went on to publicly reveal their engagement.
“This is not the point of the sermon. I have a point for showing you all this. This is not just my girlfriend, this is my fiancée Rikki,” he said. “I proposed…Naunahan niyo ako, okay lang. I proposed to her so she’s now my fiancée.”
In the TikTok comments, fans expressed both shock and excitement for the news.
Barber was a 4th Big Placer in PBB: Lucky 7. Soon after, he started acting and has played roles in movies including Seven Sundays, Loving in Tandem, Fantastica, and The One That Ghost Away, among others. He later transitioned to hosting shows and events as well as his podcast, The Painfully Human Podcast.
Last January, he officially began his training to become a pastor. In a previous interview on TFC's BRGY, Barber shared his reasons behind his decision to become a lay pastor.
"I really found my calling and some people might have assumed straight away na hosting ang calling [ko]. And I believe that it's a part of it. But I really see my calling in ministry," he shared.
“My dream job is in ministry, like my dream job is somebody who's called a lay pastor. I really found what I believe I'm here on this Earth to do. And I know without a doubt, I've stood and people they look at what I'm doing and like, 'You are wasting your career away.' Remember they were trying to convince me to [do] more in the industry but I'm like, at the end of my life, I am not going to stand before God and be like, 'Look at all the projects I did.' He's going to ask me: 'What did you do?' And I'm going to be like, 'I serve You. I knew You,' that's where I feel like I'm supposed to be," he added.
