Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Amielynn Abellera, and Ronny Chieng join the cast of 'Forgotten Island'
More Filipino-American actors join the star-studded cast of DreamWorks' animated feature Forgotten Island.
In a report by Variety, Filipino actress Dolly de Leon, Fil-Am comedian Jo Koy, The Pitt actress Amielynn Abellera, and comedian-actor Ronny Chieng are the latest additions to the cast members of Forgotten Island.
They are joining the earlier announced star-studded lineup, including Lea Salonga, H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, and Jenny Slate.
In her Instagram post, de Leon expressed how she's happy and proud to be part of the cast.
"Over the moon with excitement and Pinoy pride to share Forgotten Island with the world! Nakakaproud maging [P]inoy. Thank you, [DreamWorks], [Joel Crawford], and [Januel Mercado] for putting our stories out there," she wrote.
Meanwhile, Abellera, who plays Nurse Perlah Alawi in The Pitt, was also excited for the project.
"So out of my mind excited to join the incredible @forgottenislandmovie team! Infinite thank yous to [DreamWorks], [Joel Crawford], [Januel Mercado], and [Mark Swift] for having me on board this epic adventure!" she wrote.
This is de Leon's latest international project following the Triangle of Sadness, Nine Perfect Strangers season 2, and the upcoming series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.
Jo Koy, meanwhile, is currently on the Just Being Koy tour. He was recently honored at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Apart from The Pitt, Abellera has previously played roles in films and series, including Limboland, How to Survive Being Single, and I Am That.
Chieng is currently on the Hasan Hates Ronny | Ronny Hates Hasan tour with comedian Hasan Minhaj. He also took part in films and series like Interior Chinatown, Crazy Rich Asians, M3GAN, and more.
Centering around Filipino folklore, the comedy adventure film tells the story of longtime best friends Jo, voiced by H.E.R., and Raissa, voiced by Soberano, who find themselves stranded on a remote, forgotten, and magical island called Nakali. The only way home, they discover, may involve having to forget each other and their friendship.
It is written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, who previously worked together on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Croods: A New Age.
Universal Pictures is set to release Forgotten Island theatrically on Sept. 25, 2026.
