Jo Koy imprints hands and feet in Hollywood
Filipino-American comedian and actor Jo Koy was immortalized in a handprint and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
The event, hosted by his longtime friend and fellow comedian Tiffany Haddish, served as a full-circle moment for the two stars who once dreamed of this milestone while standing outside the Laugh Factory early in their careers.
"I’m so grateful to you. I’m so proud of you. This right here is so dope," she told Koy.
Surrounded by a group of A-list supporters—including Martin Lawrence, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Babyface, and Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morri of Boyz II Men and AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys—Koy was praised not just for his comedic timing, but for his reputation as one of the kindest and most grounded figures in the industry.
Koy delivered an emotional speech centered on the power of representation and the importance of resilience.
“There’s kids out there like me that have a dream, and when they see people like you do it, then we know that the windows are open and the doors are open, and it can happen. I always wanted that to be, like what I did, to inspire. I always wanted, like my son, to be able to go, ‘Oh, damn, my dad did it, so I can do it.,'” he said.
To conclude, Koy reminded the crowd to keep laughing because "this life is too funny to take seriously."
“Keep pushing hard and just understand it’s okay to fail, because if you’re not failing, you’re not trying. Fail as hard as you can. And even when they look at you and they go, ‘Ah, look at you. You fail.’ You just look at them and go, ‘Well, what are you doing? Looks like you’re just standing there watching people. I’m going to keep trying, because I’m not done.’ I like to say this life is too funny to take seriously, so just laugh. So I love you guys.”
Koy's comedy, which often draws on his family and cultural experiences, includes humorous observations about Filipino habits.
Last June 21, 2025 the comedian was in the Philippines for his "Just Being Koy" tour, performing at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
