Tolentino gold? Newlyweds give away gold bars in viral wedding reception

The distribution of gold bars in the Philippines is deemed impossible by many, but surprise, surprise! It actually happened in Tagaytay. A newlywed couple worth their weight in gold just gave them away in a viral wedding reception.

Aerial Estacio and Emerson Tolentino, who make a living by selling jewelry online, tied the knot last February 19.

As their business proved to be sustainable and especially enriching, the Tolentinos showed their gratitude in the form of 100 pieces of gold bars, 80 for wedding guests and 20 for online clients.

The gold bars, which are 24 karats (meaning they're made of pure gold), are four inches long and are stored in a red velvet box. They also depict an animated rabbit and Chinese symbols signifying the Year of the Water Rabbit.

Wedding coordinator Aldrik Gohel said the gold bars are worth P15,000 apiece.

The Tolentinos, who went live on Facebook as they raffled off the gold bars, said they also gave away bags to other guests. Their video has over 4,800 reactions (mostly "love"), 20,000 comments, and 10,000 shares to date.

Commenters congratulated the couples and sent their well-wishes, with some even jokingly asking to be given gold bars.

"CONGRATS MAM, PINAPANOOD KO LNG LAGE LIVE SELLING MO SUPER BAIT MO LALO SA MGA BUYERS MO," a Facebook user who shared their live video also wrote in the caption.

"Sana all," said another Facebook user who shared the live video.

In other news, couple Jayson and Lorellei gave out 150 kilograms of red onions as giveaways to their wedding attendees in January. Interestingly, they had the same wedding coordinator as Aerial and Emerson's.
