In Sultan Kudarat HS, marriage booth bride 'laments' would-be lifetime of misery in viral photo

"Singtamis ng kendi pag nagkakasal-kasalan," Quest raps in the classic childhood sweetheart anthem Dati (with Sam Concepcion and Tippy Dos Santos).

But for a girl in a high school in Esperanza in Sultan Kudarat, it's as if she just had something acrid, burned, and bitter.

New Panay National High School (NPNHS) celebrated Valentine's Day by hosting a marriage booth for its students.

In one of the photos it posted on Facebook, the groom is showing off his supposed wedding ring and a "HAPPILY MARRIED" sign as he beams at the camera. The bride, meanwhile, appears to be in tears, reluctantly clutching her supposed marriage certificate as she's about to enter a world of pain and misery for a lifetime.

The photo has over 83,000 reactions (mostly "haha"), 2,400 comments, and 31,000 shares to date.

Netizens are having a field day in the comments section.

“Arranged marriage be like,” one netizen said.

"Every marriage in a nutshell," another netizen said.

Many users turned the girl's face into a meme, finding her expressions so relatable even in a non-marriage situation.

The girl, Syrelle, told Pilipino Star Ngayon Digital that she was just forced to go to the marriage booth.

"Kaya ganyan po yung reaction ko,” she is quoted as saying.

In any case, Syrelle said she still had a blast that day despite the initial embarrassment.

Though it doesn't have much reaction as the "unhappy" marriage, the NPNHS's #LoveWins entry gave kilig to netizens.

In the photo, the newlyweds proudly pose for a photo as they just tied the knot.

The groom even gave his "forever" a kiss on the forehead.

The NPNHS told followers to stay tuned as it's set to post more photos of its Valentine's Day celebration.
