A Lounge at NAIA Terminal 1 to close permanently
Travelers flying out of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 will have one less airport lounge option starting October.
A Lounge announced that its branch at the NAIA Terminal 1 will permanently cease operations after Wednesday, Sept. 30.
"We sincerely thank our valued guests for their continued support throughout our years of operation at NAIA Terminal 1," they wrote.
The pay-per-use airport lounge noted, however, that the Terminal 3 location is still open for those looking for a place to relax before their flights. It is located on Level 4 in the Airline Lounges area and will is open 24 hours.
The closure have coincided with the introduction of First Meridian Lounge, a new shared premium facility at Terminal 3. The lounge opened in May and is designed to serve eligible premium passengers from multiple international airlines instead of operating as an individual airline lounge.
Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines are among the airlines whose eligible passengers are redirected to First Meridian following the closure of their dedicated lounges.
The changes form part of the wider modernization of NAIA under New NAIA Infrastructure Corp., which has been carrying out rehabilitation and upgrades, including biometric e-gates, food halls, lounges, and more.
As of August, NNIC said it had spent P6.8 billion on NAIA rehabilitation and modernization.
