'Pinoy Big Brother' to officially move to a new home
Following weeks of speculation regarding the relocation of the Pinoy Big Brother house, ABS-CBN Head of TV Production and PBB Executive Producer Laurenti Dyogi has officially confirmed the move.
In an interview with MJ Felipe on TV Patrol at the Farewell Get Together, Diyogi said that it's time to "officially say goodbye to the house."
"We’ve sustained this for 21 years," he said. "Years back, I was already seeing the possibility of moving out on this property, but the collab happened with Channel 7… we found a reason to keep the house to extend for the coming season."
He explained that doing so would be good for the future housemates for them to "have a new feel."
When asked if he is confirming a new season, he said, "To be honest, we still have the format, the license for a couple more years. So talagang may aabangan pa ang mga tao. Kung saan, kailan, abangan niyo 'yan."
Diyogi said that they will also open auditions for the new season soon.
Meanwhile, PBB hosts and former housemates Bianca Gonzales and Robi Domingo reminisced about the iconic house.
Domingo noted that it "has produced a lot of personalities, superstars, and lots of stories" for their viewers.
Gonzales, meanwhile, said it was the "end of an era," admitting she was emotional since she heard the news.
"Days leading up to today, parang naiiyak-iyak ako nang iniisip ko lahat ng nangyari sa bahay na ito. Literal second home,” said Gonzales.
"Witness yung bahay na 'to sa highest of the highs, lowest of the lows, hindi lang para sa akin, pero para sa most of the team members na nakikita mo dito," she continued, calling it "life-changing" for the housemates and crew.
The PBB house was built along Eugenio Lopez Drive in August 2005. It underwent major expansions to accommodate Pinoy Dream Academy, with both shows sharing the studio compound and gala hall for several years. The facade saw significant redesigns in 2011 to integrate the two structures, followed by a bold color change to red, blue, and yellow for the show’s 10th season in 2021.
In 2023, a part of it was demolished after its lease had expired.
“We needed to give up this part of the PBB house as our lease has expired this year and it is impractical to renew it. We still have the main PBB house and control room which hopefully we still get to use for the next PBB edition. This original house was built in 2004 and is 18 years old. It has become iconic and a landmark in the area,” said Diyogi on Instagram.
