Elon Musk's ex, Ashley St. Clair, opened up about rejecting a reported $40 million (around P2.8 billion) nondisclosure agreement involving their child to appear in the documentary Musk, hoping her decision to speak out will empower others.

During the Venice Film Festival press conference for the documentary, St. Claire explained why she rejected the NDA.

"When you are offered something like that, it creates a debate about what your speech means and how valuable that is,” she said. "Why do they want to offer me this amount of money to not speak?” she mused.

St. Clair, who gave birth to Musk's 13th child in 2025, also hopes to “set the example for [her] kids that you should never take being materially comfortable that we’re speaking the truth."

She rose to prominence as a right-wing political commentator known for promoting conservative and anti-trans views. She also admitted that she an "amount of regret" over past political stance.

“I got involved with Republican politics when I was 18 after I met Charlie Kirk, and there was an air of ignorance,” she said. “But that ignorance does not excuse any role in that. I hope the risk that I’m taking now in speaking out and trying to fight back at least helps a little bit.”

Musk, which premiered Tuesday at the festival, is a nearly four-hour documentary by Alex Gibney that examines the billionaire's rise, business ventures, and public persona. The film challenges his image as a visionary, arguing that his success is shaped by “illusion and misdirection.”

Musk did not participate in the documentary and has dismissed it as a “hit piece.”

Alex Gibney, the documentary’s director, described Musk as a “very dangerous” man and expressed concern over what he sees as Musk’s lack of empathy.

“I would say he has a very difficult time with empathy, especially cognitive empathy, which is putting himself in the shoes of others. He seems incapable of doing that," Gibney said.

Musk is reported to have fathered 14 children in total with four different women.
