Colombian man arrested after smuggling cocaine worth $10,000 under wig
In a hair-raising surprise, a man from Colombia allegedly tried to smuggle cocaine worth $10,000 (PhP578,800) onto a flight to Amderstam in the Netherlands by putting it under his wig.
The Colombian National Police, on its website, said the 40-year-old unnamed suspect, who hails from the city of Pereira was stopped at security by units of the Anti-Narcotics Police.
Authorities then found over 400 doses of cocaine, which were in the form of 19 capsules "camouflaged in a wig that the individual was wearing."
A video also showed authorities cutting the man's wig open to reveal the drugs underneath.
The illegal substance was subjected to the Homologated Preliminary Identification Test and tested positive for cocaine.
The man was arrested and detained at the Attorney General's Office amid charges of trafficking, manufacturing, and carrying narcotic substances.
He also has two court records for drug trafficking, the Colombian National Police said.
According to local police, they've arrested over 450 people for drug trafficking and seized more than 115 kilos of hallucinogens, including marijuana, coca base, and cocaine in 2025.
“We are dealing decisive blows against these criminal structures that not only fight over local drug trafficking but are also the generators of different violent acts and other types of crimes that disrupt peace and coexistence," it said.
"We continue to insist on the importance of the community being our main ally, providing timely information that helps us identify and locate criminals."
