PAWSsion Project finds new home for rescued animals

In a heartwarming triumph for animal welfare, the PAWSsion Project, a dedicated animal rescue organization, has successfully found a new home for over 300 rescued animals.

Malou Perez, the founder of the non-profit organization, shared the good news in a Facebook post, saying that they found a fenced 1-hectare property that they can rent for a year while they look for a more permanent home.

"[I] just received the best call I could ever ask for. GOD, YOU NEVER FAIL," she began, "We may have just found the most perfect space to address our concern for the Bulacan babies, a fenced 1-hectare property a few minutes away from the shelter that we can rent for a year while we look for the perfect space that the rescues can finally call home."

According to Perez, airlines such as Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines have both been in contact with the organization to transport the rescued fur babies.

"Cebu Pacific offering charity rates and PAL through [the] PAL foundation may be able to waive the fees and help us send the dogs to Bacolod for retirement before Christmas!" she said.

"So so many of our rescues getting adopted and fostered to good homes as people slowly step up and show up for the rescues! It’s never a rejection if it’s God’s plan but a redirection because He always works in mysterious ways. But it’s always always for the best."

Earlier in December, PAWSsion Project announced that it was halting its rescue operations to focus on finding a temporary space and moving some of its rescues to foster homes, some to its Bacolod shelter, and its cats to a rented house.

During that time, they looked to rent a fenced space within San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, to place over 300 rescues. The space needs to have a water and electricity supply, as well as a covered area to protect the rescues from rain and the sun.

"The ultimate goal is still to find a permanent space for the rescues, and we are praying so hard we get donated land," the organization underscored.

In a video statement, Perez said that while they have gotten offers for land from Bohol, Zambales, and Batangas, she said that they aren't keen on taking up the offers as they are too far away for them to use.

"As much as possible, we'd like to consider areas that are near because we have a little over 300 rescues to move, and logistically, it would be very, very hard to move that number of rescues sa malayo. So we're really considering this area still," Perez said.

Perez founded the PAWssion Project in October 2018 after she rescued dogs on death row scheduled to be killed by gunshot. After that first pound rescue, numerous reports poured in, leading to the opening of a second shelter in Bulacan in mid-2019. Since then, they have rescued more than 2,000 animals and found foster homes for 1,000.
