Bongbong Marcos running for office in 2022, says spokesperson
Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will be “definitely” running for office in the 2022 elections.
This was revealed by his lawyer and spokesperson, Vic Rodriguez, in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel’s program Headstart on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
“He will be definitely running for 2022,” Rodriguez said
Rodriquez said their camp will be making a “formal announcement” regarding Marcos’ plans for 2022. However, despite being pressed by program host Karen Davila, he did not say which position Marcos will seek next year.
“I’m presuming not Vice President again,” Davila said.
“He will be running come 2022,” Rodriquez replied.
Marcos ran for vice president in the 2016 elections but lost to Leni Robredo. He filed an electoral protest case over his defeat before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET). On Tuesday, Feb. 16, the Supreme Court, sitting as PET, unanimously junked Marcos’ petition.
Marcos served as a Philippine senator from 2010 to 2016. He also served as representative of the second district of Ilocos Norte from 1992 to 1995, and 2007 to 2010, and Ilocos Norte governor from 1998 to 2007.
