Solo parents to get free MRT, LRT rides from Apr. 15 to 18
Registered solo parents can enjoy free train rides this week.
The Department of Transportation announced that the MRT-3 will offer free rides from April 15 to 18 for all solo parents.
The initiative is in line with Republic Act No. 11861, which aims to recognize and support the role of solo parents in society.
Free rides will be available daily from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
To avail, passengers must present a valid Solo Parent ID at any MRT-3 station.
Meanwhile, the LRT-2 will also provide free rides for solo parents on April 18, in celebration of National Solo Parents Day, following the same time schedule.
The DOTr described the program as a “small gesture of gratitude” for the sacrifices and love of solo parents.
