A man said he needed to rush to work as he refused medical treatment right after getting revived from a heart attack at the railway station.

According to a report by South China Morning Post, the man in central China collapsed from a heart attack while lining up before getting on the train in Changsha, Hunan province last week.

A doctor, along with other staff at the station, was quick to give him some assistance.

The man gained consciousness after 20 minutes and said, "I need to take the high-speed train to go to work."

While he was advised to get a physical check-up as he might have suffered injuries from the fall, the man said he didn't think he needed to go to the hospital.

He, however, eventually agreed to board an ambulance.

SCMP reported that the incident made the rounds on social media.

"Oh dear, he woke up and the first thing he thought of was to make money. I am so moved!" an Internet user said.

Another one commented that he's "not alone in this society." They added, "Most of us have to bear high burdens, from house loans to kids’ education. It is not easy for everyone."

Per the SCMP, the unemployment rate in China has been high in the past years.

Citing the National Bureau of Statistics, it said thagt the unemployment rate for individuals between 16 and 24, excluding students, was 16.1% in November 2024 from 17.1% in October.

The SCMP added that "cases of employees' sudden deaths caused by excessively long overtime often make headlines in the country."
