Man arrested after faking heart attack in 20 restaurants to avoid paying bill
A man from Lithuania was arrested after staging fake heart attacks in at least 20 restaurants he was in to avoid paying the bill.
According to a report by The Sun, the 50-year-old expat pulled off "the same dramatic act" in almost every dining spot he targeted, which were mostly in Costa Blanca.
"It was very theatrical, he pretended to faint and slumped himself down on the floor," a restaurant manager said.
Another resto owner shared that the man ordered several glasses of whiskey and a salad before faking a heart attack.
The man's picture, which shows him lying on the floor, is already being shared by restaurants as a warning.
He was jailed for 42 days after refusing to pay two fines in connection to his "outrageous series of theatrical dine and dashes."
A lawyer told The Sun that since each incident was considered a small amount of money, they're only deemed as "minor crimes" and wouldn't lead to a longer sentence.
Still, restaurant owners are looking to file a joint complaint that could put him behind bars for two years.
