Blair Waldorf set to have solo sequel novel from original 'Gossip Girl' author
A standalone sequel novel about Blair Waldorf from the Gossip Girl author is reportedly coming soon.
According to a report by Deadline, the sequel novel, titled Blair is in the works at Alloy Entertainment and will be written by Cecily von Ziegesar, the author of the cult classic novel series.
More details about the novel are still under wraps, but it will reportedly follow Blair in her 40s as she returns to the city and attempts to reclaim her place at the top of the Upper East Side social hierarchy.
The book is currently expected to be released in the summer of 2027.
Alloy Entertainment holds the film and television rights for the new novel. It is also a home to hit book-to-series adaptations, including The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, and You.
Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, is known for her snobbish yet sharp-witted personality. Aired from 2007 to 2012, Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of privileged teens on the Upper East Side of New York, who “can hide no secret from the ruthless blogger who is always watching.”
In 2023, the series sparked comeback rumors when its social media accounts shared a photo of the original cast.
"Welcome back, Upper East Siders. After a long time away, I see it didn’t take much time for you to dirty up the clean slates I gave you. #GossipGirl,” the caption read.
The series was rebooted in 2021 on HBO Max with a new cast, but it ran for only two seasons.
