WATCH: 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' drops official trailer

Fashion icon Miranda Priestly and her utter disdain for tact are back, with Andy, Nigel, and Emily keeping the Runway red carpet all warm and fuzzy.

20th Century Studios just released the official trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, and it's filled with everything fans of the original film have been anticipating.

We see Meryl Streep, playing Miranda Priestly, in a big, red gown, posing for paparazzi at a fashion event. Anne Hathaway's Andy Sachs is on hand, too, appearing as Runway Magazine's features editor, with Nigel Kipling, played by Stanley Tucci, welcoming her with his signature wit.

It seems, however, that Miranda isn't as excited as Nigel, completely forgetting that Andy used to be her assistant—her other Emily. No worries there; the real Emily, played by Emily Blunt, is there to confirm Andy's previous life as Miranda's former junior assistant, but not without her trademark sarcasm.

“You’ve changed. You’re much more confident,” Emily tells Andy in the trailer. “You kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?"

Watch the official trailer below.

The film's first installment follows the story of style-challenged Andy, who goes to work at Runway Magazine, which is run to perfection by its editor Miranda, a fashion icon. Emily trains Andy to become her shadow—a role that Andy struggles with at first but eventually triumphs in. Nigel is the magazine's creative director; the only one who handles Miranda's sass with his own.

Prior to the release of the trailer, Streep and Blunt spoke to Variety magazine about reprising their roles 20 years after they first stepped into their Devil stilettos.

“It was like going into the back of your own closet and finding something, thinking, 'Oh, I wonder if this still fits?'” said Streep, who received an Oscar nomination for her role as Miranda.

Blunt, on the other hand, wondered how she so “easily” picked up her “lunatic” character's quirks after so many years.

“This character seems to be the glove that fits rather too easily for me,” Blunt said. “She’s a lunatic. Maybe I should question myself on that: why it seems so easy to step back into her.”

Filming the sequel in New York has been a boost of morale for the cast and crew, with hordes of fans watching on the streets just for a glimpse of the film's cast in haute couture.

“It felt jubilant, when I first got out on Sixth Avenue—where we filmed 20 years ago and nobody was interested. I got changed, got out of my camper, and just heard this roar! When we shot the wannabe Met Ball, it was even crazier. People were dressed up as Miranda! Honestly, it really threw me," Streep said.

The fan attention necessitated some strategic moves to keep much of the film confidential.

“We began wearing our sweatpants to set and only changing out of them at the last minute to try to preserve the magic," said Blunt.

New characters join the film in this second installment, including Kenneth Branagh as Miranda's new husband and Justin Theroux in a "forward-leaning, rich and stupid" role. Lucy Liu, Simon Ashley, and BJ Novak are also in the sequel, with their roles still under wraps. Director David Frankel returns to direct the sequel; Aline Brosh McKenna pens the screenplay, as she did for the first film, which was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 bestseller of the same title.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1.
