The son of the slain policewoman has been found dead in Tarlac more than a week after being reported missing with his mother.

ABS-CBN News reported that the body of John Ysmael Mollenido, 8, was recovered by authorities in Barangay Maluid in Victoria last Thursday, Jan. 29.

It came days after Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido, a National Capital Region Police Office officer, was discovered lifeless on Jan. 24 in a creek along Pulilan-Baliuag By-pass Road in Barangay Dulong Malabon. According to a report by The Philippine STAR, her decomposing body was wrapped in a piece of cloth, a plastic sheet, and a garbage bag. She also had a gunshot wound to her head.

The two were identified by Mollenido's husband, Police Senior Master Sergeant John Mollen, who is also an NCRPO member.

Per The STAR, Southern Police District public information officer Lt. Margaret Panaga said Mollenido and her son were last seen on Jan. 16, when they were reportedly going to Novaliches to see her godchild.

When the two did not return home, Mollenido's husband and siblings reported them missing to authorities on Jan. 19.

Both Mollenido's godchild and husband are being considered persons of interest in the case.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
