Traslacion 2021 crowd reaches over 400,000 on Saturday morning, according to MPD
Nothing can stop Catholic devotees from celebrating the feast of the Black Nazarene in person—not even the coronavirus threat.
As of 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, according to an estimate by the Manila Police District, this year’s Traslacion crowd has reached over 400,000. “On Quezon Boulevard alone, mahigit 300,000. Sa Palanca naman, mahigit 100,000 na,” MPD Director Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco said in a media interview.
In a Facebook post, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno reminded worshippers to observe health and safety protocols to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

A total of 15 masses will be held at the Quiapo Church today, with each limited to only 400 devotees who are required to fill out a contact tracing form online.
